The garden
A few hives, a garden, a family.
AS MIEL is not a honey factory. AS are our initials: Alexis and Sylvia. It is a 5,000 m² garden in Corné, in the commune of Loire-Authion between Angers and Beaufort-en-Anjou, a few hives at the end of it, and the two of us looking after them through the seasons.
Alexis looks after the bees: the hives, the harvest, the extraction, the jarring. Sylvia looks after what they forage: hundreds of plants, flowers, shrubs and bulbs, planted year after year, taking turns to bloom from early spring to late summer.
The garden
The bees never travel far: fruit trees in spring, hedgerows, flower beds, lime trees in summer. A 1,000 m² pond, in the shade of our trees, gives them water all year round. We do not move the hives and we never blend harvests. Every jar tells one precise season, in one precise place.
The craft
Each harvest is cold-extracted, left to settle, then jarred by hand at home. No heating, no blending, no added flavours. Colour and texture change from one year to the next — the sign that nothing has been standardised.
Everything above board
Our apiary is registered with the French authorities (beekeeper no. A5218622) and every batch is traceable, from frame to jar. The best-before date and batch number are printed on every lid.
